1. GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: Do I need experience to join an expedition or course?
A: No — most people who join Trailblazer Adventures are beginners or outdoor-curious. You don’t need confidence or experience; our trips and courses are designed for everyday people who want to grow.
Q: Can I come alone?
A: Yes. Most participants join solo, and groups bond very quickly. You’ll feel welcomed and supported from the start.
Q: What age range are your trips for?
A: Most participants are between 20–50, but the main requirement is enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Adults of all ages are welcome as long as the trip is suitable for their fitness and experience.
Q: Is equipment included?
A: No — you’ll need to bring your own personal kit (boots, clothing, backpack, etc.). We’ll send a full packing list after booking, along with guidance on what to buy.
2. FITNESS & ABILITY
Q: How fit do I need to be?
A: You don’t need to be an athlete. For trips like Madeira, if you can walk for 4–5 hours with breaks, you’ll be absolutely fine. We move at a supportive pace with plenty of rest stops.
Q: What if I’m nervous or inexperienced?
A: That’s who the business is made for. You’ll be supported throughout, with friendly guidance and no judgement. Most people finish feeling more confident than they expected.
Q: What if I have a medical condition?
A: Please inform us before the expedition. Many conditions can be managed with proper planning, but we need accurate information to keep you safe. All medical details are kept confidential.
3. BOOKING & PAYMENTS
Q: How do deposits work?
A: Deposits secure your place and are non-refundable. This helps us book accommodation and logistics early.
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes — for expeditions like Madeira, you can pay via a 6-month instalment plan after the deposit. Payments are taken automatically each month.
Q: Can I transfer my booking to a different date?
A: Transfers requested more than 90 days before departure are usually possible. Within 90 days, transfers are less likely due to fixed costs.
Q: Do you refund flights if a trip is cancelled?
A: No — we refund the expedition cost only. This is standard in the adventure travel industry. We recommend booking flexible flights and having travel insurance.
4. SAFETY
Q: Are the expeditions safe?
A: Yes. All trips are led by a qualified Mountain Leader, and safety is our top priority. We plan thoroughly, monitor conditions, and make decisions based on what’s safest for the group.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: We adapt the route or itinerary as needed. Safety always comes first, and we’ll still aim to provide a great experience.
Q: Do I need travel insurance?
A: Yes — travel insurance covering medical emergencies, cancellation, and trekking activities is required for overseas trips. You’ll need to provide proof before departure.
5. MADEIRA EXPEDITION SPECIFIC
Q: Are flights included?
A: No — flights are booked independently. This gives you flexibility on departure airport, timing, and price. We’ll recommend ideal arrival times.
